The Bug Man

You never
know where your next BIG lead will come from! I was meeting
one day with a gentleman in my group who owned a pest
control company. In trying to get to know one another's
businesses and figure out how we could help one another
group the others business, the "Bug Man" said to me, " I
kill bugs, how can I help you sell office furniture?" My
reply was simple, "It's no big deal! You help me by getting
rid of the pests at my house and some of my clients homes.
That's how you help me!"
In the true
spirit of Team Networking the Bug Man went back to his
office and racked his brain trying to think of someone he
knew that might be a good business contact for me. After a
while he had an idea and called a Commercial Real Estate
Broker he knew. He asked if she or any of her clients needed
any new office furniture. She quickly replied that in fact
she had a start up company that needed 9 chairs. She asked
that the Bug Man have me call the customer directly to get
the ball rolling. The Bug Man immediately called me with his
"LEAD" and with pure excitement and pride gave me the
information for the start up company.
In the
months that followed I did in fact sell that small start up
a few chairs and miscellaneous items and built a great
working relationship. Six months after the Bug Man had
passed me the initial lead, the CFO of the start up called
me and said that they had received funding and they were
going to build a headquarters. They would need furniture for
about 200+ people. That was huge!!!! In fact it ended up
being over a $1 million sale.
And just
think, it all came from my Bug Man!!! |
