Description of Business: Karen Hart focuses her practice on commercial litigation, creditors' rights, landlord-tenant issues, and civil appeals. Her representation of clients with regard to contract disputes includes promissory notes, security agreements, stock brokerage and option agreements, credit agreements, guarantees, commercial leases, mining leases, software licenses and agreements, and other commercial agreements. She counsels clients involved in real estate disputes, including those regarding lien priority issues, lis pendens, commercial evictions, specific performance of real estate sale agreements, and foreclosures.
Karen represents clients involved in intellectual property disputes concerning patent, copyright, and trademark enforcement and validity issues. She has litigated matters for clients involving customs regulations, importers, brokers, and Customs Centralized Examination Stations. Karen is experienced with pre-suit asset preservation, including sequestrations and pre-suit garnishments. Her experience extends to post-judgment enforcement, including enforcement of constructive trusts and judgment liens, divestments of title, alter ego claims, garnishments, turnovers, domestication of foreign judgments, and contempt proceedings.
Karen has first-chair experience with jury and non-jury trials and arbitrations.
Karen previously worked as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Hayden Head, Jr., U.S. District Court, Southern District of Texas, Corpus Christi Division.
Karen also serves as her firms' Risk Management Counsel.
